HowAboutWe.com is a very cool and unique entry in the vast universe of online dating websites. HowAboutWe is doing something that not a lot of other sites are doing, which is to focus on the actual face to face “offline” date. The account set-up process is a lot of fun as they ask you some pretty unique questions. The site takes you through the set-up process one question at a time and instead of giving you a list of multiple choice answers you can actually manually write all the answers. They ask you questions like “What’s your perfect Sunday?” and  ”Some cool places you have traveled?” they also give you the chance to describe a bit about yourself by filling out “Obscure knowledge you have” and “I have a weakness for girls with”. My favorite questions were “What movie have you watched the most times” and “An awesome place I have visited” and then there is the dreaded self description which I could personally go with out “My life history in 5 sentences or less” which most people just use as a way to try to say something witty and funny. You are given the option to skip any question you don’t feel like answering and go back to fill it out at your own convenience. You are required to provide a profile picture, which is nice since there won’t be any faceless profiles which other sites are littered with. The last part of the set-up is where you get into the real purpose and main function of the site. They ask you to provide a date idea by creating a date. You will be asked to write a short description of what it is you had in mind and then you can add a location and categorize it as an eating/drinking date or a listening/watching date or both. This is the whole purpose of the site, people create date ideas and then post them on the site. You can browse others ideas and if its something you think you would enjoy doing then you can show your interest in the site by clicking ”I’m Intrigued” or you can directly message the member to potentially get offline and go on the date. The site describes itself as the “offline dating site”.

The site requires you to upload a profile picture which is great since there aren’t any junk profiles that are quickly created and then abandoned which is a problem with a lot of online dating sites. For anyone living in a large city or metropolis this site is ideal since the best part of living in a major city is the endless things there is to do all the time. We’ve all made arrangements to go on dates before and it get redundant after all you do is just go out for food. With this site you can come up with something unique and you don’t have the worry of the person your taking about not liking the choice you’ve made since they have already showed interest by showing interest in the idea before you actually go out on the date.

The Bad

For some reason, on this very unique and creative site, there are a lot of unoriginal ideas. The site has an option to select “Surprise Me” when you’re creating a date idea. The site fills in the info for you and then you can post it, I think a lot of people do this since there are a lot of duplicate date ideas. Then there is the people who stink of desperation and just ignore the purpose of the site and completely ignore the fun and basically beg for some companionship, checkout this example of exactly what I’m talking about below.

There is also your typical cynics and pessimist who just came to spoil the fun for everyone else.

I’m fairly sure that some of the date ideas are created by people who are either employed by certain organizations or have some kind of motive for posting date ideas like this one. Seems a bit to informative…

Conclusion

I personally think HowAboutWe is great and it can certainly be a ton of fun. I feel it’s more useful for people in more populated areas since there is so much more to do. It’s a change of pace from the typical online dating sites that provide only the basics.
